Hand pulled by the artist from the original endgrain maple blocks on an Ettan etching press at Juneau, Alaska, August, 1990.

An illustration for an Athabascan folktale from the Yukon River country. The people were dying and Raven said the Chief-at-the-end-of-the-world was causing the deaths. Raven went to the Chief-at-the-of-the-world and the two of them fought and killed each other. When they were both dead Raven said, "You be the sun and I'll be the moon and shine at night so that people can travel at night."

And so it was.
