Hand pulled by the artist from the original endgrain maple blocks on an Ettan etching press at Sitka, Alaska, September, 1991.

Editor's note: the certificate of authenticity for this title indicates that five prints were pulled for a book edition; there is no evidence such a book was created. The image is illustrated in the book Tales From the Dena: Indian Stories from the Tanana, Koyukuk & Yukon Rivers.

Raven wanted Whale to go hunting with him. Whale was afraid of Raven but Raven persuaded him to come.

The two went up the river where Raven tricked Whale into trying to cross and shallow place and when Whale couldn't swim Raven killed him. He carried Whale's guts into the woods where they became tree roots. Then he ate the rest of Whale.
