Illustration for an Athabascan folktale about a man who went down the Yukon River in a canoe and had adventures with different animals along the way. When he saw Bear waiting on the bank the man turned himself into a salmon. Bear tried to spear him but the man grabbed the spear point and swam away with it.

A man who was a friend of the bears was swallowed by a very large fish. One of the bears set out to kill the fish in order to release the man.
