Illustration for a Yukon River folktale about the last of the giant eagles, called thunderbirds for the terrible noise of their wings in flight. One of the thunderbirds carried off the wife of a young hunter. He was so enraged and grief stricken he killed the eaglets and wounded the parent birds who flew off to the north and were never seen again in the village.
