Hand pulled by the artist from the original endgrain maple block on an Ettan etching press at Juneau, Alaska, Feb. 1990.

Illustration for an Athabascan folk-tale from the Yukon River country.

Brown Bear had a fish trap at the mouth of the river and none of the fish could get up stream and none of the people who lived further up the river could get any fish. Raven tricked Brown Bear into walking ahead of him up the stream. While Brown Bear's back was turned Raven lifted the fence so that the fish could get up the river and other people could get fish.
