Illustration for an Eskimo folktale about a young girl who was a skilled hunter and could see magic. While out hunting with her father they met a terrible black thing and she was captured by a wicked shaman who enslaved her. She escaped with the help of a spirit child who gave her a magic bucket which held the strength of the sea and a magic copper knife which could destroy evil.
