Editor's note: there are several volumes of this book, beginning in 1951. It was originally published by Sitka Publishing Company, which was co-founded by Dale's husband, Bob. All three volumes contain different stories by Gaines, each enhanced with pen-and-ink drawings by DeArmond. Other artists illustrated the books' covers and stories beyond the third volume.
