Hand pulled by the artist from the original endgrain maple block on an Ettan etching press at Sitka, Alaska, May, 1991.

The Man-Who-Went-Down-the-River met Brown Bear and Brown Bear tried to trick him. The Man killed Brown Bear's daughter and to escape Brown Bear's fury the Man turned himself into an otter and swan down the stream into the lake.

An Athabascan folk tale.
