Editor's note: this woodcut is one of the first known examples to have different colors in the print (not simply differently colored backgrounds). The image with the blues is number one in the edition, and appears to have been printed on dark tan paper with no background color.

A traditional oomiak (alternatively spelled umiak) is an open Eskimo boat that consists of a wooden frame covered in skins with seats. Image courtesy of the Alaska State Museum.
