Hand pulled by the artist from the original endgrain maple block on an Ettan etching press at Sitka, Alaska on March 1995.

Editor's note: the image shown is of considerably poor resolution, but is the only one currently available. Book edition print is featured in From Long Ago: Crest Hats, Masks and Faces. Some proofs are dated 1994.

Northwest coast ceremonial hat, possibly Tlingit. Carved wood with two woven potlatch rings which indicate that the wearer has hosted two potlatches. The blue-green color was probably made from copper verdigris and the red from a mineral substance.
