This engraving is based upon one of the myths of the Northwest Coast Raven cycle. Raven married the daughter of the fog and promised her father that he would be very good to her. One day, however, they quarreled and Raven hit his wife over the head with a dried salmon. His wife turned back into fog, drifted away and Raven never saw her again.
