Artists' Book (handmade)
Retold and illustrated by Dale DeArmond
Artist's Edition: 5 (an additional two were produced)
Overall size: 9" x 10"
Editor's note: this artists' book consists of an envelope cover, two double-sided text pages, and three original wood engraving illustrations with linocut borders. A colophon is included. The engravings and linocuts were hand pulled by the artist from the original blocks on all rag, acid free paper: Rives standard white for the engravings; Rives BFK gray for the portfolio and borders; and Arches text wove paper for the overlay.
The story, handwritten by DeArmond on every copy, is presented on handmade Japanese paper. In addition to the five publicly-offered copies produced, an additional two were made and designated not for sale. Produced by the artist in September, 1992.
A copy is archived with the Anchorage Museum and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. With respect to this currently unavailable DeArmond work, the story pages from this book will not be shown here. Click on any of the following for more information.
