Editor's note: the birds and ground detail, which DeArmond carved from woodblocks, remain the same but the grasses and fauna are different in every print. She used actual plants that form the background, requiring different samples for every subsequent print she pulled. Three examples are shown, each with very different background detail (any paper color differences are due to lighting and camera flash).
