AKA: He Makes a Canoe
Hand pulled by the artist from the original end grain maple block on an Ettan etching press at Sitka, Alaska, May 1991.
The Man Who Went Down the River set the frame for a canoe and went to sleep. While he slept the animal women, Mouse, Weasel, Fox and Raven sewed the birch bark on his canoe with roots. An Athabascan folk-tale.
