When light flows into the Eastern sky
And Raven calls
Does he remember how he made the world?
How, flying round and round
He rolled the darkness of the universe
Into a ball and made the earth.
Exhausted he
Fell to the earth he made and slept
And sleeping, dreamed,
Dreaming great spruce and hemlock on the hills
And berries in the sunny meadows.
