Illustration for an Aleut folktale about the daughter of a great chief. The girl ran away from home with a wicked man who starved and beat her. A little old woman brought her food and carried her off to the sky country where the girl married the old woman's son who was a star. He was one sided, had willow twigs for hair and one eye in the middle of his forehead but he was good and kind and they all lived happily ever after in the most approved fairy tale tradition. The story is a kind of Aleut version of "Beauty and the Beast."
